Changing Desktop icons is very easy and straightforward. With this method, you can resize icons into three sizes: small, medium, or large.

To quickly change the desktop icons size, right-click on an empty space on the desktop and select the ‘View’ option.

Then, select one of the three sizes that work best for you from the expanded context menu or press these shortcut buttons:

  •     Large icons – Ctrl+Shift+2
  •     Medium icons – Ctrl+Shift+3
  •     Smakk icons – Ctrl+Shift+4


Although the ‘Super large icons’ option is not provided in the context menu, you can still change the icons to Extra Large by pressing Ctrl+Shift+1. While keyboard shortcut, make sure to use the number keys on top of the keyword.

Step 1. To hide the desktop icons from the Windows 11 Desktop, right-click on free space on the desktop, select View, and then uncheck the option Show desktop icons.


Step 2. Once you want to show the desktop icons, right-click on the free space on the desktop, select View, and then Show desktop icons.


Step 3. To resize the desktop icons, three default options are available:-

  • Large icons
  • Medium icons
  • Small icons
To select any of these default sizes, right-click on the blank space on the desktop. Now select the View option and then Large icons, Medium icons, or Small icons.

Change Desktop Icons with a Mouse Scroll


In the above method, you can only change your icons to three different preset sizes: small, medium, large, or extra-large. But in this method, you can easily change the desktop icons to any size you want by simply scrolling your mouse wheel.

All you have to do is simply hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard and start scrolling the wheel on your mouse upward or downward to increase or decrease the size, respectively. When you are happy with the icon size, stop scrolling the scrolling mouse button.

By default, Windows 11 uses Medium icons for desktop items. If you want to see bigger icons, select “Large icons.” For tiny icons, you can select the “Small icons” option. Still, it does not fulfill your requirements? Don’t worry. Minimize or close all opened windows. Now, press and hold the Ctrl key from the keyboard and rotate the mouse wheel to change the size of desktop icons on Windows 11. Once you see the desired size icon on the desktop, remove fingers from the mouse and keyboard. That’s it.
